This page lists some of our past service projects as well as ones we are currently working on.

Previous Service Projects
The Gamma Kappa chapter of Tau Beta Sigma is dedicated to serving bands, musical ensembles, and our community here at UConn.

  • Bought suitcases and made dividers for them to more efficiently hold pep band music
  • Remade pep band folders taking out tattered music and pages, broken backs and rings and putting all the music in the same order
  • Helped out at Connecticut Music Educators Association (CMEA) Spring Festival, CMEA Eastern Regional Festival, Collegiate Band Directors National Association symposium, and UConn Brass Day Festival.
  • Set up rehearsal rooms
  • Changing the stage for different performances
  • Ushering concerts
  • Being runners for directors of the ensembles
  • Giving directions
  • Selling concessions
  • Teaching at clinics and camps
  • Yamaha Sounds of Summer Drumline Camp
  • Parade technique marching at local high schools
  • Serving lunch at the UConn Drumline Summer Camp
  • Repainting the band field
  • Sewing, hemming and maintaining 300 uniforms throughout the marching season; altering drumline sequins
  • Running UCMB recruitment tables at high school competitions
  • Repairing old tubas to donate to local high schools; fixing the shed that stores the tubas and turning that into a repair shop
  • Tightening stands
  • Buying 12 tall stands for the back row of performing ensembles, who are on high risers, to use
  • Organizing the uniform closet
  • Turning an unused closet into a reception closet
  • Receptions for concerts
  • Receptions for auditioning music majors
  • Fixing the bulletin boards in the music building
  • Giving graduating seniors framed pictures of themselves, their class and their conductor at their final concert
  • Hand out food to the band at football games
  • Prepare the Morning Beat (a pre-game newsletter) before every home game and trip we made
  • Pep bands at hockey games and volleyball games
  • Researching school information so we can send our scholarship to them
  • Cleaning out the tuba and drumline trucks
  • Instrument cleaning before important games
  • Rose sales to help benefit our scholarship fund
  • Chair setups for Jorgensen Auditorium
